Kids Dental Check-ups in Lake Zurich

We recommend that all children have their first dental checkup by 6 months of age and no later than one year old. Our dentists offer comprehensive oral health services for children of all ages.

Planning for Your First Visit

Remember to bring a copy of your photo ID and insurance card. New patient paperwork can be filled out in the convenience of your own home, or you can plan to arrive 15 minutes early to complete it before your child’s appointment.

Patients with special needs are always welcome. Please do not hesitate to let us know if there is anything we can do to make your visit as comfortable as possible.

What to Expect

Your child’s first appointment will last about 45 minutes. We will introduce ourselves to your family, get to know you and discuss any concerns you have.

Using a Tell-Show-Do approach, we will work at your child’s comfort level to:

  • Educate them about good oral hygiene practices.
  • Examine the teeth and soft tissues.
  • Clean and polish the teeth.
  • Apply fluoride and sealants, as needed.

…and send home a goody bag full of helpful items to keep their teeth healthy and strong.

Will My Child Need X-rays?

We use the lowest available radiation digital radiography for all X-rays. These high-resolution images allow us to screen for hidden decay, assess tooth development and perform orthodontic evaluations.

What if My Child Needs Treatment?

If your child is in pain, we will take steps to immediately relieve any discomfort and plan future treatment as appropriate. Our patient coordinators will work closely with your insurance provider to outline your coverage and the benefits that you are entitled to. Anti-anxiety options like nitrous oxide (“laughing gas”) are available to make the process as stress-free as possible.

New Patient Forms

Your time is important. To help us see you in an efficient manner, we’ve made all new patient paperwork available to download and complete in the convenience of your own home. Just bring it with you to your child’s scheduled appointment.

We also ask that you bring a list of any medications that your child is currently taking.

Appointment Information

Although our schedule is quite flexible, there are a few things your family should keep in mind when choosing to make us the home for your children’s dental care.

Appointment Availability

Because we are a pediatric dental office, there will be times where children have to be seen during school hours. Most young patients do best early in the morning because they are well-rested. Older children may find it more difficult to miss certain classes at school, so we try our best to accommodate their needs. We appreciate your understanding.

Confirmation and Cancellations

All families will receive confirmation and reminder texts and/or e-mails 2 weeks, 2 days, and 2 hours before their scheduled appointment. Please arrive on time, as we have reserved your specific time for your child only. Arriving 10 or more minutes late to a scheduled appointment will necessitate the rescheduling of the appointment.

If for any reason you can not keep your scheduled appointment, please contact us at least 24 hours in advance. This will ensure that other families waiting for availability during the same time slot can be seen in a timely manner.
